Employment Project FAQs
The Carers Grants Project provides financial support to unpaid carers for essential items or services that improve wellbeing and make caring easier. Grants are funded by local and national charitable organisations.
What is the Employment Project?
​Our employment project supports unpaid carers to access employment, training, education & volunteering opportunities.
Who can join the project?
All carers registered with Camden Carers can access the project by calling us on 0207 428 8950 or emailing us at referrals@camdencarers.org.uk
What kind of support will I receive?
We can support you with CV and job application writing, preparing for interviews, researching courses that may benefit you and refer you to other services and organisations that may help you.
How do I access the project?
Once you have been referred, you will be assigned an employment support worker. They will contact you to arrange an appointment either in person at the Greenwood Centre, over the phone or via video call.
Is there a wait time to access the employment project?
Yes, the average wait time is around 4 weeks but can vary depending on demand.
Do I need any documents to register?
No, you just need to be registered with Camden Carers.
Can you help me find jobs in my area?
Yes, our employment advisors will create an action plan with you and they will support you to find employment or volunteering opportunities.
Can you match me directly with suitable roles?
No, we do not have a bank of employers but we will support you with your job search.
Will joining the project affect my benefits?
No, our support does not impact your benefits.
Can you support me with travel expenses, interview clothes and other costs?
We may be able to support you with this. When you meet with your employment support worker, they can discuss any potential access to funding support.
Do you provide in-work support after I start a job?
Yes, you will receive continued support from your employment support worker for the first three months of your new job.
Can I get support if English is not my first language?
Yes, we have access to Language Line which provides interpreters in over 200 languages. We can also identify English language courses suited to your needs.
